WALID is a Maldives-based team of environmental consultants, planners, surveyors, cartographers, designers and engineers. With almost a decade of work in both the public and private sectors, we have an excellent grasp of the Maldivian context and a strong network of peers and local stakeholders we can rely on to keep our work timely and effective. We share a deep love of the environment, and it drives our high standards. We work to safeguard and enhance the Maldives’ unique marine habitats through modern, sustainable approaches, while keeping development projects cost-effective and viable.
How we work
Our team is led by young professionals with extensive experience across a wide range of projects, from small-scale coastal and marine surveys to large-scale infrastructure projects delivered in partnership with local and national governments.
We are structured to be flexible and independent, working as peers under the direction of our Principal Consultant. Each team specialises in one phase of project development, and together we provide complete solutions tailored to your project.
Environmental Consultancy
Led by our Environmental Consultant, with a marine biologist, a research assistant and a field assistant. Screening, baseline surveys, EIAs and environmental monitoring.
Surveying & Mapping
Led by our Chief Surveyor, with senior and junior surveyors, a GIS analyst and a draftsman. Land, hydrographic and aerial surveys turned into clear, high-quality maps.
Engineering & Design
Led by our Lead Engineer, with coastal and civil engineers and a quantity surveyor. Coastal protection, reclamation, harbour and structural design.

Environmental assessments and EIAs for the Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture, and for the island councils of K. Himmafushi and ADh. Mahibadhoo.

Surveys and environmental monitoring for developers and consultants such as RW Armstrong & Associates, Prime Atoll Maldives and CDL HBT Oceanic.
